Dear #TheHungry,
When I first started this blog over 11 years ago, it was truly just out of boredom. I was fresh out of college, had just started my first “real” job, and yearned for something productive to do with my nights and weekends. I’d always had an interest in food and cooking, so I figured why not try my hand at this thing on the internet called a blog. And thus The Hungry Hutch was born.
My hobby slowly snowballed into something bigger than I could have imagined. I toyed with the idea of culinary school, and then the next thing I knew I was graduating from my program and finishing my last week in finance before jumping into a culinary career full time. And while I dreamed of writing for places like Food & Wine and The New York Times, I first shared my words, recipes, and life with you.
Now it’s time for the next step in my career, and sometimes you have to crack a few eggs to make it happen.
As those of you who follow me on social media likely already know, I recently accepted a job with the Washington Post where I’ll get to showcase my food writing and recipe developing talents to an even larger audience without having to do every single thing by myself. I’m extremely excited about what this stage in my career will bring. However, I can’t help but mourn certain parts of my personhood that this new role will cause me to sacrifice: I will no longer be able to post new recipes in full to The Hungry Hutch website beginning December 14th. (For anyone wondering why, it has to do with a little thing called a non-compete clause. And yes I will maintain my social accounts, but I never really posted full recipes there anyway.)
So, what does that mean? I have a few new recipes that I plan to post before my start date, and all of the other recipes that I’ve already posted will stay up for all to revisit and cook from. But beginning December 14th, I will only be able to post brief updates about the new work I’ve done with links to direct you to it on the Washington Post’s site.
I hope you’ll continue to follow along with me to this next chapter. I’m truly excited about all the amazing things I’ll be able to do under the umbrella of a huge organization. I plan to continue to post the same types of recipes that you’ve come to know and love from me—just at a different URL.
Warm Wishes,
Hutch
P.S. And before you ask “What about this?” or “How about that?” to try to keep this site alive with new content (more than just brief recaps), know that I’ve already proposed all of the possible different scenarios I could think of to no avail. I’ve come to terms with my decision, and hope you will too.
P.P.S. For all of the PR people and brands out there—this also means I can no longer do any more sponsored content or even accept free products. Please adjust your lists accordingly.
P.P.P.S. I still have two weeks before I start, so there are a few new recipes up my apron I plan to post here before then.

Just wondering – will you be posting those updates and redirects here, or would we be better off following you on a social media account for the same info?
The Hungry Hutch says
I plan to post them in both places, though I will likely post to social media first.
