Classic pasta aglio e olio (aka pasta with garlic and olive oil) gets a fresh twist with the brightness of lemon. This meal comes together in minutes, making it perfect for people on the go.
Pasta aglio e olio is one of the simplest pasta dishes known to man. For anyone a little rusty on their Italian, “aglio e olio” translates to “garlic and oil,” which, along with pasta, are all you really need to make the traditional version of this dish. However, a common addition is crushed red pepper flakes for a little spice.
I’ve brightened up the traditional recipe by adding lemon zest and juice for great acidity and flavor. It really transforms this pasta recipe to a whole other level, in my opinion. And to serve, I top the pasta with some fresh oregano leaves. However, feel free to use whatever soft fresh herbs you might have on hand (or go without if not available to you).
The great thing about this dish is that it literally comes together in a matter of images. This is all thanks to Barilla Ready Pasta, which saves tons of time from not having to wait for a large pot of water to come to a boil since it’s already fully cooked. All you need to do is open the pouch, add it to your sauce to heat up for a couple of minutes, and you’re ready to eat. Talk about convenience!
In terms of where to find Barilla Ready Pasta, I was able to find it—along with pretty much everything needed for this recipe—from the food section at Target. So the next time you’re out running errands, be sure to grab all the necessary ingredients to make this recipe for yourself.
