A few weeks ago I was contacted by someone representing Myx Fusions, the spirits brand backed by the one and only Nicki Minaj. Being a fan of her music and having heard the words “Myx Moscato” thrown into many of her lyrics, I figured it was time to see for myself what the rapper’s beloved beverage tasted like. The moscato’s light sweetness and relatively low alcohol content make it a very drinkable beverage; it also comes in a few different flavors.
I chose to work with the regular moscato to come up with a fun and festive holiday punch recipe that can serve a crowd—or one very determined individual looking to have a great night on their own. Sticking with the Christmas colors of red and green, I chose pomegranate and mint as the ingredients and garnishes to pair with the bubbly spirit. The trick I’ve learned for how to remove pomegranate seeds is to cut the fruit into pieces and then pop out the seeds submerged in a bowl of water. This is better than whacking it with the back of a knife because it prevents pomegranate juice from flying everywhere and staining your clothes or kitchen walls red (not that I’ve ever done that before…).
