Spring has sprung and bikini weather is just around the corner. At the start of the new year I hatched a plan to try to drop some ell-bee’s (pounds) before the warm weather hit so I could walk around feeling more confident in the required minimal clothing of the season. Unfortunately, my plan didn’t quite work out. Though I have made some slight progress, when it came down to deciding between going to the gym and writing another blog post, I often opted for The Hungry Hutch. (It’s because I care about you!) Also, I just like food too much to frequently deny myself of the things I crave.
On the other hand, I do make healthier food choices now and then to balance out the red meat and chocolate cake. Take for instance this yellow fruit smoothie with bananas, cantaloupe, orange juice, turmeric, and Greek yogurt. The fruits provide your body with great nutrients such as vitamin C and potassium; turmeric, which is best known for adding yellow color to curries and mustard, acts as an anti-inflammatory (and is vying to be THE superfood of 2016); and the yogurt provides some protein and calcium. There’s also a small dose of honey to round out the sweetness. (Local honey is also believed to help alleviate seasonal allergies.) Sounds like we’ve got a winner on our hands, folks. Also, look at this beautiful picture of the cantaloupe:
And though this would sort of detract from the healthiness of this beverage, I can’t help but think that rum would be a great addition to turn it into a summer cocktail.

If you haven’t mixed your turmeric powder with black pepper in it’s shaker, do it now! it actually makes it possible for the turmeric to be digested and the nutrients to be absorbed.

What is the ratio that you use?

I have made this 2 days in a row. Today, I left out the honey and it is still delicious.
